ISLAMABAD: The accountability
court on Tuesday reserved its verdict in the Avenfield case, which will be announced on July 6.
The Sharif family are facing three corruption cases in the accountability
court after t
he National Accountability Bureau (NAB) filed refere
nces against them in light of the Supreme
Court’s verdict in the Panama Papers case last year.
In today’s hearing, Maryam Nawaz and Captain (retd) Safdar’s counsel presented his final arguments.
The co
urt had ordered the counsel to conclude his argument on July 2. However, after his failure to do so, the hearing was adjourned until today.
The
court conducted 107 hearings over the past nine and a half months before reserving its verdict.
It is important to note that no witness appeared before the
court on behalf of the defence.
The co
urt had already declared Hassan Nawaz and Hussain Nawaz ‘absconders’ in the case.
Nawaz’s counsel Khawaja Haris had also concluded his final arguments in the case last week.
Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz, who are in London to attend ailing Begum Kulsoom Nawaz, have got two-day exemption from proceedings.
However, according to reports, they have decided to come back to Pakistan in coming few days.
