astic shopping bags. Quetta Metropolitan Corporation (QMC) Administrator Farooq Langove noted that 12 pl
astic warehouses had been sealed in different parts of the city.
He added, “Those producing and selling pl
astic bags were given two month
s. That deadline has now expi
red.” Quetta is introducing biodegradable shopping bags while a private m
anufacturing plant has become operat
ional for their production. While talking to media sources, Langove warned of strict action against those found using pl
astic shopping bags. Karachi Cantonment Board Clifton (CBC) has also banned the use of polythene bags; setting a deadline of June 3.
Meanwhile, Hunza district administration, Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governments also banned the use of pl
astic shopping bags.
